Our founders ran dispatch for a large carrier and kept watching the same thing happen. Customers learned about delays from their own customers, because nobody whose job it was had told them. They left to build a forwarder where the person who quotes a shipment stays with it until it is signed for.

That model scaled better than anyone expected. We opened a cross-dock, then a bonded warehouse, then an ocean desk in Rotterdam. Today Haulmark moves freight for 1,200 shippers through six offices, eighteen warehouses and ten gateways, and every account still has one named team.
