Every container that moves between the Joliet intermodal ramp and our cross-dock is now hauled by a battery-electric tractor.
The shuttle is short, around eleven kilometres each way, but busy: up to 600 moves a day. That makes it ideal for electric trucks, which charge at the cross-dock during loading and never need to stop on the road.
The twenty-two tractors will avoid an estimated 1,400 tonnes of CO₂e a year. Customers see the reduction on their shipment-level emissions reports from this month.
